Anyone out and about near the Townhouse last week would have been forgiven for thinking they had walked back in time as a number of individuals dressed in Victorian costume could be seen walking around. The Townhouse was the venue for a Victorian afternoon tea with plenty of delicious sandwiches, scones and cakes all served by appropriately costumed ‘staff’. This was another event to celebrate 200 years since the laying of the foundation stone. Beith Cultural & Heritage Society would like to thank everyone who supported the event with all proceeds going to the ongoing refurbishment of the upper floor. The verdict from the waitresses was that the long black clothes were extremely hot and they were left with a feeling of admiration for those who had to wear such clothes doing physical work for far longer periods.
