I’ve been trying to discover more about Mary’s Pool. I’ve been told it is named after a girl, called Mary, who was murdered there, but I can’t find any more information. Who was Mary, and when did this event occur? I notice there is no mention of the name on any of the O.S. maps so it seems to be a local name. Anyone able to help?
